Transforming your home doesn’t have to cost you a fortune, and it also doesn’t have to take up too much of your time.

When you focus on the finishes and decorations in your home instead of structural changes or big renovations, you can save time, save money and still give your home a completely new feel.

Here are some of the ways you can take your interiors to the next level without having to break the bank.

First, though, find out what needs changing

Before you start buying new decorations willy-nilly, it’s important to identify what you’re not liking about your current interiors. When you take a step back and identify what exactly is making you feel tired of your space, you might find out that you really only need to make a few minor changes.

Think about things like the colours you’re using, any existing wall art you have and if you’re using mismatched decor in your space. When you figure out what’s not working (or what is), it makes it much easier to see what changes are going to make the most difference.

Utilise prints

If you aren’t already using prints in your space, a home refresh could be the perfect place to start! Using one large piece as a focal point can really change the look and feel of a space, and you only have to buy one item!

Think about the kinds of colours you have in your home already and try to align with that theme. If you’ve got a more mismatched colour palette or you’re looking for a piece you’ll be able to keep even as your tastes change, it might be worth investing in a good piece of neutral wall art that can take you through many years of changing styles.

Try a Gallery Wall

If one large, focal piece of artwork doesn’t sound like something you’re interested in, a gallery wall might be a happy medium. Building a gallery wall on a blank space in your home can help you bring more personality and life into your space without having to make any major changes.

You can also utilise things you already have in your home to curate your gallery wall. Think framed family photos, vintage posters, wall prints, mirrors – the world really is your oyster when it comes to curating your very own gallery wall. The other great thing about a gallery wall is that it allows you to really show off your personal style in a way that feels right for you. Our tip, though? Try using the same or similar frames to ensure a sense of unity across the wall.

Use Textures

One of the simplest ways to make your home immediately feel fresher is to utilise different textures and textiles in your space. You can do this by adding tapestries to walls, macrame plant hangers, or going as simple as switching out your sofa cushions and throwing blankets.

One of the best parts of refreshing your home using fabrics is that you’re really able to switch things up based on the season and your mood. Whether you want to change the colours of your sofa cushions or add some festive flair during the winter months, throw blankets and cushions are easy to store and relatively cheap to purchase, making them a great choice for refreshing your space.

Rotate Your Art

If you’re looking for a big change, or you find yourself getting the itch to update your space seasonally, it might be worth looking into rotating your art every few months.

Whether this consists of storing a few pieces and bringing them out whenever you need a change, or simply switching the rooms or locations of your existing prints, rotating your artwork is a great way to make your space feel fresh without having to change anything major.

Breathe New Life into Your Space

When you refresh your interiors using these simple tips and tricks, you can breathe new life into your space when it’s feeling a bit tired or dull. By utilising what you have, investing in art and textiles and rotating pieces when you feel like a change, you can update your home without having to make any major financial investments! It’s a win-win!

In the Spotlight: How “The Przy” is Changing Artwork Forever One Print at a Time https://betterdecoratingbible.com/2017/03/13/spotlight-przy-changing-artwork-forever-one-print-time/ https://betterdecoratingbible.com/2017/03/13/spotlight-przy-changing-artwork-forever-one-print-time/#respond Mon, 13 Mar 2017 16:09:55 +0000 http://betterdecoratingbible.com/?p=12564 This creative artist put noir genre artwork on the map! See why we are totally obsessed with this unique and slightly provocative young artiste.

We get so excited here at Better Decorating Bible when we discover new raw talent and have the opportunity to bring them into our spotlight. Meet Justyna Przybylowska the brainchild behind The Przy, an online print shop featuring mainly black and white prints. After checking out Justyna’s store one thing we quickly saw is that The Przy is not shy from being provocative, racy, emotional, and very, very raw.

Film Noire Genre: Her artwork is inspired by film noir (meaning “black or dark film”), a term used to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas from the 1940s – 1950s. These films were mostly shot in gloomy grays, black, and white and showed a dark and inhumane side of human nature with doomed love.

You can see why she labels her artwork as film noire genre, as it directly relates to this type of mood, style, point-of-view and tone.

Artwork is all about expressing yourself, and this is another thing that Justyna does well. Looking through her prints you see a whole other world from her eyes and perspective. Justyna tries to use her artwork as a way of drawing awareness to subjects she feels are important. This could be emotions, personal experiences, or sometimes even political issues and corruption.

Her artwork is very glamorous although some prints may make you cringe like some of the morbid shots we found on her online store.

Here is my favorite print that I could definitely see hanging up in my office: red manicured fingers digging into a juicy slice of cake on a yellow and red Versace plate. How luxurious it looks!

There is definitely a piece of artwork for every space in your home. The piece below looks very money-worthy to be hung up in a sleek, modern kitchen.

It doesn’t stop there; The Przy doesn’t only sell printed artwork. They sell a whole range of lifestyle products such as framed art prints, canvas prints, metal prints, iphone cases, t-shirts, hoodies, throw pillows, tote bags, clocks, mugs, rugs and so much more!

Want to see more? Check out The Przy’s FINE ART section to see more of Justyna’s stunning photographs. You can also shop prints HERE at Society 6 where she offers a ton of different printing options.

After learning more about this up and coming artist, I am definitely considering spicing up my home with a wild, sexy print. The Przy may just be starting a new decorating trend…
