It can add a comfortable aesthetic, set the mood, and reflect your personality and character. Understanding the formulas for creating the right atmosphere in the room with art can make all the difference.

Using Colours

One of the fundamental things for setting the mood or character of a room is the colour. The choice of wall colours and art can affect how a room looks and feels. People think cool tones such as blues and greens are calming, hence making these tones suitable for bedrooms or sitting rooms. Bold and warm colours like reds, oranges, and yellows lead to more energetic spaces, making such colours suitable for dining quarters or kitchens.

Think about your current furniture when incorporating art. With its natural greens and earth tones, botanical wall art can make a room look new and peaceful. This sort of painting looks great on neutral walls, where it does not compete for attention but adds its soul to the room. If you want an impact, go for artworks with intense, vivid shades, which become centrepieces within any given space.

Displaying Your Art in the Right Way

How you present your art is a good example of how space influences everything inside it significantly. If well-placed and arranged, it makes a look more cohesive and appealing to the eye, devoid of anything suspicious. Look at size and scale because that will help determine things like colour. However, larger art pieces should be placed on larger walls to be a focal point rather than making the room look smaller.

When you hang an art piece, it should be centred at eye level, about 145 to 155 cm from the floor, to make it easy to be seen and have a balanced appearance. First, go with the biggest piece when forming a gallery wall, with smaller ones surrounding it equally.

Frames are another important aspect of displaying art. Choose frames that complement the artwork and your decor. Simple, minimalist frames work well with contemporary art, while ornate, vintage frames can add character to classic or traditional pieces.

Lighting to Set the Mood

Light plays a key role in highlighting your artwork. The correct lighting elevates your art and gives the room depth. Occasionally, daylight is always there, but it is only sometimes feasible, for instance, in the evenings.

For better results, mix ambient, track, and accent light. Ambient light illuminates a wide room, whereas track light concentrates light on particular areas. Accent light, such as track lighting or picture lighting, can be focused on your art objects to form a spotlight.

Use bright, warm white bulbs (2700K-3000K) to accentuate the colours of art pieces and create a warm, welcoming feeling. In contrast, cold, cool white bulbs (4000K-5000K) provide a purer light ideal for areas with contemporary artwork and designs.

Mixing Styles and Textures

Including diverse styles and textures in your art collection helps stimulate it visually, giving it a fresh twist of complexity. Incorporating distinct art forms, such as abstract, realism, and even impressionism, in a single room can result in a more personalised space. It is good to blend modernism and traditionalism; hence, you can use present-day and classical pieces to create a specific form or learn about artistic traditions.

Texture also plays a big role in creating a good mood. Various art forms using multiple materials and styles, such as oil paintings, aquarelle paintings, and mixed techniques, can be used. These differences will make the room more profound and solid. One metal frame may be combined with another wooden frame, making your decoration diverse.

A perfect ambience in an art room means much more than just the choice of pieces of nice-looking art. You can change your space into a kind and pleasant place by learning to apply colours correctly, show your art to an advantage, adjust the lights, and mix textures and styles. Remember that the key factor here is your attraction to some works that represent your style at best.

It can hang large above a couch, fill in empty wall space, and act as a conversation piece. We can all agree that art provides the finishing touch to any luxury apartment and can greatly assist when decorating your new home. However, it can be difficult to find quality art without breaking your budget. That’s where we come in—the following list of affordable art destinations will help you get your art collection where you want it to be.

Etsy

Etsy is virtually a household name. The platform is a wonderful place to find budding artists to help you add style to your modern apartment.

Deviant Art

Minted is a creative haven for dozens of independent artists. Their work starts at prices as low as $20, and their exclusive selection is easier to navigate than Deviant Art or Etsy.

Your Local Thrift Store

While you’ll find many run-of-the-mill paintings with no originality, you’ll also find some keepers. Many talented artists donate paintings or simply run out of space to keep work. The best part is that you can customize found paintings with your own home decorating style  additions in a thrifty collaboration effort.

20×200

This Jen Bekman project is a hub for limited edition prints by commissioned artists. You can find small prints for as low as $24.

Create a Relaxing Atmosphere at Home with Artwork – Here’s How! https://betterdecoratingbible.com/2018/05/27/create-a-relaxing-atmosphere-at-home-with-artwork-heres-how/ https://betterdecoratingbible.com/2018/05/27/create-a-relaxing-atmosphere-at-home-with-artwork-heres-how/#respond Sun, 27 May 2018 21:03:51 +0000 http://betterdecoratingbible.com/?p=14770 Give your home a punch of color and relaxation this season by decorating with artwork. We’ll show you exactly how to do it!

If you feel as if something is missing from you home’s decorating it could be that you don’t have artwork or you don’t have the proper artwork on your walls. It’s not easy to choose the right artwork that will compliment your home without some pointers. Keep reading on how you can choose the perfect artwork that will make your space stand out, and elevate it with new trends!

Make Your Space Make Sense

When decorating a space it’s important to make your furniture tie in with your accessories such as artwork, window treatments, rugs, and throw pillows. If you have floral throw pillows and window treatments that have a dominant color try to find artwork that has the same dominant color as well. This way everything in your space will tie in together and not look like you randomly purchased everything. Matching your artwork to your furniture and accessories is a vital part of making your home decorating look polished.

Bigger Artwork is Better

If your space doesn’t have a clear centerpiece make it a large piece of artwork on your wall. For example, if you are decorating your living room why not choose a huge piece of abstract artwork and hang it right over your sofa? Beautiful exotic punches of color will make your living room look designer decorated and absolutely amazing.

Stay Away from Small Pieces

Considering grouping together a bunch of small pieces of photos and artwork to try to create a saloon wall? Just don’t. This trend is long gone and it looks cluttered and messy. Kiss clutter goodbye and try sticking to larger pieces for a nicer statement wall.

Gold Foil Artwork

If you’ve ever seen gold foil artwork you’ll know how glamorous and rich it looks. This type of artwork is usually abstract and done on canvas with patches of real gold foil pressed onto the canvas. If you can’t find the perfect piece, try ordering some custom canvas art and specify that you would like this effect added to your artwork. If not, you can easily purchase it at a craft store and add it on yourself with special gold foil adhesive. A little glitz and glam goes a long way!

Romantic Custom Canvas Artwork

If you would like something customized to fit in perfectly with your home’s decor there are companies that can make custom canvas art work such as CanvasVows. If you are a newlywed and would like to showcase your wedding photos, or even give an canvas art anniversary gift, this company has it all. We are obsessed with their cute personalized word art canvas which is perfect as an anniversary or wedding gift (check it out below). They also have tons of other ideas such as love quote canvases, last name signs, and special occasions such as baby showers and more!

Black and White Monochrome

Monochrome artwork has always had a sense of sleek and modern to it. If you are going for a more put-together look, black and white artwork is a safe choice and it matches with absolutely any color scheme you may have going on. It’s actually even easier to create this look yourself. All you need is a large canvas and some black paint to create an abstract masterpiece that can look like it’s worth millions! Trust us, your guests will wonder where you bought it!
